The Kaiwomaru is called the “Lady of the Sea.”
Kaiwomaru Park, centered around the pure white ship, is a bayside area where people gather, learn, and relax.
Please enjoy the romance of the sea while taking the refreshing sea breeze.
Due to the Kaiwomaru’s launching date of February 14th, the Kaiwomaru Park was selected as a “Lover’s Sanctuary” and this has led to the organization of “Happiness Bell Wedding Ceremonies” and the “Kaiwomaru Lovers’ Festival” spouse hunting event.
Additionally, a monument was installed in order to commemorate the induction of Toyama Bay into the Most Beautiful Bays in the World Club.
The Kaiwomaru began as a merchant training vessel.
Since February 14th, 1930, she has sailed 1.06 million nautical miles（50 times around the world）, and raised 11,190 young sailors.
At Kaiwomaru Park, the Kaiwomaru is open to the public in its original active service form.
It is decked out in full sail 10 times a year — Don’t miss it!
Recognizing the ship’s historical and cultural value, it was designated “Naval Heritage” on July 20th 2018. Furthermore, August 2018 saw the ship’s 2 millionth visitor since its opening to the public. The naval workshop for kids has also welcomed over 34,000 participants.
This was established to deepen understanding and knowledge of maritime culture.
With models of vessels from around the world and exhibits about oceans, ports, and ships, it is a good base for learning about the sea.
This seaside bird park was created to offer a place to interact with wild birds.
A pond, reed beds, and trees provide suitable habitats for wild birds, and with 152 species that come through the four seasons, it has indeed become a bird sanctuary.
You can enjoy nature and observe the wild birds from the observation center, cabin, or bird blinds, while listening to the explanations of the bird experts.
Bird-watching outings and lectures are also held.
The bayside is a great gathering spot with views of the Kaiwomaru, sea breezes, and green lawns.
With a large event space and nice places for barbeques, this area is bustling with families and groups.
An event plaza of around 18,200 ㎡decorated with seashells where fun events and communication come alive surrounded by the sea breeze and a blue sky.
A corridor 10 m wide and 180 m long. Hear the loving sound of the waves while looking up at the Kaiwomaru across the plaza.
A touch panel featuring tourism information for sites in the prefecture and a counter overlooking the Kaiwomaru are also available.
A playground with various equipment, including the large “Wave Hammock.” Fun for the whole family!
A wide space full of greenery. Make the most of the outdoors and feel free to host barbecues here. To use this space, please apply in advance at the Nihonkai Koryu Center Office first.
Gaze upon Toyama Bay, the Tateyama Mountain Range, the Shinminato Bridge, and the Kaiwomaru, all from this observation deck. There is also a pair of binoculars where you can wind the spring and hear information in multiple languages.
Shouts of joy fill the air.
There is exciting play equipment and a track for racing radio-controlled cars.
For a more romantic atmosphere, we recommend the waterfront.
Enjoy the fresh seafood of the Japan Sea throughout the year. You can also stop by the souvenir shops and the sightseeing boats that go around the harbor and Uchikawa’s bridges.
